As a child, Greg always new he wanted to be a funeral director.  Standing next to his father, an Orthodox Priest while servicing many families, he got his calling at an early age. Growing up in a small family in Carteret, our family was always dedicated to our community. Greg strived in school, was a top athlete and became an All State Football Player. After receiving a full scholarship to the University of Connecticut, he decided to follow his passion and come home to what he was meant to do.  He was a Cume Laud Graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science in New York City.

Greg started his internship in 1995, at the Skrocki Memorial Home in Perth Amboy, and went on to work at many other various funeral homes learning to be the best at what he is today.  After receiving his license in 1997, Greg along with the help of his father, became the proud owners of the CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME in Port Reading.  Shortly there after, we were offered a great opportunity the succession of the LEON J. GERITY FUNERAL HOME in Woodbridge Township today known as the GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, and in October of 2021 became the proud new owners of the GUSTAV J. NOVAK FUNERAL HOME in Perth Amboy.  Greg is very active in all aspects the family business, as well as in the community serving on many boards, including  Carteret Planning Board, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America, Ukrainian American Citizens Club, St. Demetrius Mens Club, Past President of the Carteret P.B.A Local #47, Charter Member of the Carteret F.O.P. Lodge #90, member of the Theodore Roosevelt Lodge F&AM #219 Carteret, 32nd Degree Shriner A.A.S.R. Valley of Central Jersey, Order of the Royal Arch, The American Irish Association of Woodbridge Township, Past President of the Middlesex and Somerset Funeral Directors Association and a long standing trustee of the Middlesex 200 Club.  Greg is also very active in the local community in fundraising as well as supporting all law enforcement. In 2019, Greg was honored to be awarded the Silver Life Membership Card from the Woobdridge P.B.A.local 37, which is only given out twice a year by the N.J. State P.B.A.  Since becoming a licensed funeral director in 1997, Greg has served the needs of the families he serves with dignity and trust that his parents have instilled in him since his birth.

Greg and his wife Tania are local residents with their three children. They enjoy hunting, fishing, attempting to play golf, the Jersey Shore and in the cold months enjoy visiting Florida.

Gary graduated from Carteret High School in 1974, he continued his education at American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Services Inc. in New York in 1977. Gary has been a director with the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home for over 20 years, and since January 1998 has been the manager\owner.

Born in Perth Amboy, he later moved to Sewaren and then to Carteret with his family where he was raised. Gary began his career at the Rumpf Funeral Home in Carteret with his father and later as associated with Uncle Gus at Novak’s. He then later married his wife Joan were they raised their three children in Carteret and Perth Amboy.

Gary was past president of the Middlesex-Somerset County Funeral Directors Association, past president of the Perth Amboy Chamber of Commerce, Past president of the Carteret Honorary PBA, member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Father Carey Council No.1280, Carteret, a member of the Disable Life Carteret Volunteer Fire Department, New Jersey Exempt Fireman’s Association and New Jersey State Fireman’s Association and a fourth degree and advocate of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council No. 299, Perth Amboy and a board member of Perth Amboy Catholic. Gary is a parishioner and member of the Holy Name Society and Good Shepard Parish at Holy Spirit Church, and a member of the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development in Perth Amboy.

Peter M. Chubenko became a licensed funeral director shortly after his brother Greg, becoming a huge asset in the family business.  Leaving the film and movie industry after September 11th, his thoughts changed and wanted to help and serve the families that we serve today. Being active in the community as well as local law enforcement support.

Peter was a proud graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science graduating Cume Laud. Peter is very active in the community helping at all times.

Peter is a local resident with his wife and children that enjoy the Jersey Shore and visiting Florida in the cold months.

A local boy, Shawn was born in Perth Amboy and was raised and resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. As a young boy, Shawn was always found "around town" with his parents, grandparents and friends. He attended Woodbridge Township Public Schools, ultimately graduating from Colonia High School then moving on to Kean University, studying business management. Shawn then applied and was accepted to Mercer County Community College, School of Funeral Service Education. In his time within the program, he was appointed the leadership role of embalming lab captain as well as secretary of his class and graduated with honors.

Shawn is very active within the Woodbridge community including many town and church events as well as charity fundraisers. He currently holds the position of president of Middlesex and Somerset County Funeral Director's Association and also serves on the Executive Board of the Port Reading First Aid Squad as secretary. Shawn is both proud of his accomplishments and humbled to be able to serve the community that he has grown up in. Today, he and his wife Kira can be found around town at the many local restaurants and walking their dog, Zak. (Of whom gets Christmas and birthday presents from their many Port Reading neighbors)


Joseph P. Diaz

Joe graduated from New York Military Academy in 1981, he continued his education at Mercer County Community College where he earned his Associates of Science Degree and the Certificate of Proficiency in Funeral Services. The completion of his National Board Exam, State of New Jersey Law Exam and a practical examination. He was awarded his practitioner of Mortuary Science license from the state of New Jersey in February of 1987. 

Joe was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey to Dr. Julio C. and Barbara (nee: Kunzman) Diaz MD, and resided in Kearny and Newark before moving to Cedar Grove with his family. Joe was past president of the Kearny Lions Club with his father who was also past president. Joe coached football for the Kearny Generals, and also coached soccer in Jersey City and Cedar Grove. In May of 2001, Joe received the second highest award given to an alumni at New York Military Academy the Meritorious Service Award. Joe served as second vice president and is presently serving on the Board of the Associates of Graduates at New York Military Academy, and is a member of the Knights of Columbus, San Salvador Council No. 299 in Perth Amboy as a Third Degree member. Joe is also a member of the Middlesex & Somerset County Funeral Directors Association, New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association.

Joe has two two children, Joseph P., II and Samantha R. Diaz.

Babby was born in Havana, Cuba and came to Perth Amboy with her family in 1998. She graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 2007. Babby is fluent in English and Spanish. She received her beautician’s license in 2009 and her AS Degree in Business Administration in 2019. She is currently working in Glow Hair Salon in Perth Amboy where her family owns and operates. Babby is the mother of three children Yasmin, Michael and Kristina they live in Perth Amboy. She enjoys spending time with her family & friends.

Jayna was married to Brian in 2014 at Holy Trinity Church in Perth Amboy. She is the mother of Madelyn Darlene and Kyle Brian. Jayna loves spending time with her family and friends.
