Lydia E Trinidad, 79 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at home with her family by her side.
Lydia was born in Manatí, Puerto Rico and moved to Perth Amboy 62 years ago. She graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Psychology with minor in Sociology. Lydia was the Executive Director of the Puerto Rican Association of Human Development for over 30 years. She retired in 2011. Prior to that she was a member, counselor/advocate at the Middlesex Shelter as well as assistant manager of the Community Chapel Home in Perth Amboy.
Lydia was an active member of the community and sat on many boards, committees and civil groups including the William Paterson College Board of Trustees, New Jersey Department of Human Services, Raritan Bay Medical Center Board of Directors, Hispanic Advisory Committee, Central NJ Chapter of the National Conference, the Middlesex County REACH Advisory Committee, the State of New Jersey Juvenile Supervision Program Advisory Council and was Board Secretary of the Puerto Rican Congress of New Jersey.
She was predeceased by her loving parents Pedro Trinidad Maldonado and Evangelista Figueroa. She was the youngest sister of 13 brothers & sisters.
She is survived by her beloved children Carmen Trinidad and Joe Trinidad; dear sister of Luisin Rosa, Victor Trinidad, Celia Burgos and Milagros Escobar; adored grandmother of Philip Pepin, Francesca Pepin, Danielle Pepin and Christian Trinidad; great-grandmother of Annalyce, Lilyana & Joseph; cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 and visitation from 5-7 pm, at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy.
