Edward A. Devish, 101, of Perth Amboy, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021, with family by his side.
Edward was born in Perth Amboy, where he resided his entire life. He was a WWII veteran and was employed by Ford Motor Company for 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of Holy Trinity RC Church, Past President of the Holy Name and Slovak American Citizens, Life Member of the Perth Amboy Volunteer Fireman’s, NJ Exempt Fireman’s Association, Perth Amboy Volunteer First Aid Squad, WWII Veteran and Purple Heart Association, VFW Perth Amboy, and a director’s assistant at Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home after his retirement.
He is preceded in death by parents, Felix Devish and Anna (nee Mochol), sisters Pauline and her husband Albert Parks, Margaret and her husband Arthur Brown, and brothers Joseph and his wife Grace Devish, and John Devish.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Anna (nee Piosko), son, Kenneth and his wife Tina, daughter, Annie and her husband Stephen Trzcinski, son, Robert and his wife Michele, granddaughters Noelle Riccio, Nicolette and Victoria Devish, Olivia and Emma Trzcinski, cherished grandson R.J. Devish, great-grandson Carson Riccio, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Marie Piosko of Edison, and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home of Perth Amboy, 419 Barclays St., on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 2pm to 4pm, and 7pm to 9pm.
We will begin to leave on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 9:30am from Gustav J. Funeral Home for a funeral mass at 10am at Holy Trinity RC Church. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, at a later date.
