CLEO ELAINE McLEAN SMITH, was born to the late Willie Lee Smith on March 22 1925, in Dunn, North Carolina, where she grew up with her late brothers, Glenn Smith and JW Smith and Late sister, Mildred Lee Smith.  Cleo attended school in North Carolina where she graduated and decided to head north.


Ms. Cleo, moved north and settled in Perth Amboy, New Jersey where she met and married the late James Bennon McLean, Sr., on April 21, 1960.  Starting her married life and giving birth to James B. Mclean, Jr.

 Mrs. Cleo worked for the Sunshine Biscuits for over 25 years retiring to take care of her sick husband until his death.   

A devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her son James, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Never at a loss for words of comfort to those who sought her help, Cleo wanted to ensure that her family stayed close with each other, always having get-togethers so that family member would not forget the history that formed who they are today.  Cleo relied on her strong faith difficult times, as she grew up during the Great Depression.  It is that faith in God that allowed her to lead as the family matriarch, withstanding trials and tribulations during her 95 years of blessing on this earth.

Cleo leaves to cherish her loving memories:  Her son James B. McLean, Jr., the rock on which she lived, the loves of her life her grandsons, Julian, Justin and Jarrett and her great, great grandson, Little Jarrett and great, great granddaughter, Jiavanna, along with a host of loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
