Venancio "Beno" G. Rivera, 89 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy with his family by his side.
Beno was born and raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico before coming to Perth Amboy 68 years ago. Beno served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Corporal. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he began working at AS & R Refinery, Perth Amboy then to United Steel Deck, South Plainfield for over 40 years as a Machine Operator. He retired in 1995. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish at LaAsuncion Church and a lifetime member of the VFW, Sgt. John B. Egan Post 663, Perth Amboy.
He is preceeded in death by his devoted wife Sonia ( nee Rosa ), who passed away in 2012, his cherished son Edwin "Eddie " Rivera, who passed away in February; loving son of Dionicio and Genoveva ( nee Gil ); dear brother of Denicea and Carlos Rivera.
Beno is survived by his beloved children Robert, Joseph, Venancio "Benny" and his wife Raquel Rodriguez, Daniel "Danny" Rivera; dear brother of Victor, Andre Rivera, Cheva Lopez, Delia Aurelia, Elsie Briganoi; adored grandfather of 10 and a great ~ granddaughter; cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews and cousins.
We begin to leave on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 9:15 am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy for a funeral mass at 10 am at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be Private. Visiting is on Friday from 5 ~ 9 pm.
