Monica "Mona" Desiree Sainz, 70, of Perth Amboy NJ died Thursday June 13, 2019 at Alcoeur Gardens in Brick, NJ in the arms of her devoted sister Benita.

Monica was born on March 18, 1949 at Perth Amboy General Hospital to devoted parents Manuel and Cecelia Sainz, previously deceased. Her beloved older siblings, brother Manuel J. Sainz and June Pearl Rose Sainz, and forever companion Frank Protonentis passed before her. Monica is survived by her cherished younger sister, Benita  Markewicz and her husband Todd of Whitehouse Station NJ, her beloved sister in-law Barbara Sainz and nephew Manuel O. Sainz. She had a deep love for her Markewicz, McGrath, DeFalco, and Behany family. She leaves behind her special friends Kathie and Bitty, and her 4 cats.

Monica had her Masters Degree and retired from the position of Assistant Director of the Learning Gate. She much preferred engaging with the children versus her administration duties.

Mona lived life to the fullest. She was a purple clad adventuress who eagerly welcomed travel challenges and serendipitously wandering the world with family and friends. Her favorite place was Paris.

Mona delighted being a clothing chameleon to surprise all with her wardrobe changes, often several times a day. Accessories were a must even to garden.
She always had a brilliant smile and theatrical pose for the camera. She had a language all her own, confusing those who were clueless to interpret and she would laugh with glee.

Mona was a gifted and talented artist most remembered by her Bi-centennial murals and painting fire hydrants as people such as nurses, fireman, police officers, etc. in her home town of Perth Amboy.

Her home decorations preferences were amusing and captured attention. She lovingly nurtured her precious fish and cats. Mona's "flower-child" nature defined her amazing gardening abilities bringing riotous color and lush beauty for all to enjoy.

She never complained and smiled through adversity. Her nephew Manny wanted to say she was his favorite aunt and introduced him to music and the Yankees. He felt she was fearless about protecting her family. Mona's life was remarkable , she was a huge fan of the Rolling Stones and New York Dolls. She was born to Rock n' Roll.
