Fotios PapazoglouJanuary 27, 1927 ~ July 10, 2017 (age 90)
Fotios Papazoglou, 90 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy with his loving family by his side.
Fotios was born in Constantinople, Turkey, but grew up in Vessa, Chios, Greece and came to Perth Amboy 59 years ago. He served in the Merchant Marines in Greece for many years. He was a cook for various Diners throughout the Middlesex county area. Fotios was a parishioner at St. Demetrois Greek Orthodox Church, and was an active volunteer for all church functions. In 2007 he received the "Father of the Year Award" from the church.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents Alexander and Despina ( nee Hanakis ) Papazoglou.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years to Athena ( nee Atsalis ) Papazoglou; beloved father of Debbie and her husband John Steinert and Demetra and her husband George Peppe; dear brother of Aryero and her husband Michael Patras; adored grandfather of Christopher, Stephanie, Nicolette & George; cherished uncle of many nieces.
We begin to leave on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 9:15 am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy for a Funeral Service at 10 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery. Visiting is on Thursday from 4 ~ 8 pm with a Trisagion Service at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Fotios can be made to the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church, 41 ~ 47 Wisteria Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
