Elizabeth "Betty" (Tokar) Jankovich

November 13, 1920 ~ August 10, 2018 (age 97)

Elizabeth "Betty" Jankovich ( nee Tokar ), 97 of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Heritage @ Clara Barton, Edison with her family by her side. 

Betty was born in Ptruksa, Czechoslovakia, and came to New York City and then to Perth Amboy many years ago.  She was employed by NJ Wood Finishing Co. Woodbridge for 15 years as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1974. She was a member of St. Joseph FCSU # 514. Betty was a parishioner of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Holy Trinity Church. She was the inspiration to the character "Betty Cooper" in the Archie comics. She is preceeded in death by her devoted husband the former Perth Amboy Police Chief Paul J. Jankovich, who passed away in 2010; her beloved son,Edison Police Officer Paul M. Jankovich,who passed away in 1982; loving daughter of Peter and Gizella ( nee Paszter ) Tokar; dear sister of Brother Methodius Tokar ( Peter ), Brother Francis X,  Tokar ( Michael ) Anthony and Steve Tokar, Helen Lucey and Julia Molnar.  

Betty is survived by her adored daughter ~ in ~ Law Adele ( nee Linsky ) Jankovich; cherished grandmother of Gabrielle and her husband Michael Napolitano; loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. 

We begin to leave on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 9:15 am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy for a funeral mass at 10 am at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visiting is on Wednesday, August 15 from 3 ~ 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Betty can be made to the Holy Trinity Restoration Fund.
