Cecil A Skelton, 91 of Perth Amboy, transition into eternal life on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Woodlands, Plainfield.
Cecil was a life long resident of Perth Amboy. He is an Alumnus of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1944. Cecil served his country during peacetime in the United States Army. After his Honorable Discharge, he worked as a Shipping Clerk for American Smelting & Refinery Company, Perth Amboy for over 30 years. He retired many years ago. Cecil was a member of the James E. Mackie, Post 499 of the American Legion, Rahway, a member of the St. James AME Zion Church and was a faithful trustee for over 30 years. He was also served with the New Jersey Federation of Baseball Umpires in Middlesex County.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents James A. Sr. and Sarah ( nee Issac ); loving brother of James A. Jr., Victor, Alvin and Edith Skelton.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Ruby P. ( nee Williams ); beloved father of Bruce A. and his wife Joann Skelton; adored grandfather of Shaina Skelton; cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at St. James AME Zion Church, 68 Commerce Street, Perth Amboy with the Rev Amos Dickerson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visiting is on Friday from 9 ~ 11 am. Arrangements are entrusted to the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy.
