Carol Eve Richards (nee: Elzer) of Keyport, passed away on Christmas Day at Bay Shore Medical Center in Holmdel.
Born in Staten Island, Carol was a graduate of Curtis High School and former owner of the Broadway Sweet Shop. Carol moved to New Jersey in 1982 where she worked in the housing and service industry. Carol was a long time volunteer with the Perth Amboy Domestic Violence Response Team and worked with the senior residences in her community. Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo with friends and taking day trips to Atlantic City.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Richards and her parents Edith and Edwin Elzer.
She is survived by her children, Nanci, Erik and his wife Shannon Richards, Timothy and his Fiancée Laurie Harcrow; 3 grandchildren Kyle, Kimberly,and Amelia Richards, 2 grandchildren by marriage Jewels and Kohen Harcrow; Sister to Ed and his wife Sandy, Peter and his wife Barbara and James Elzer, Nancy and her husband Eugene "Corky" Pugliese.
A Private Cremation was arranged by Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy, with a burial at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island. A public Memorial Service for friends and family will be held on February 8th, 2020 from 2 ~ 6pm at the American Legion Raritan Post #23, 81 West Front Street, Keyport, NJ.
